Final countdown to International Green Smoothie Day and I am hyped!
This is probably the biggest news around here, and if you are scratching your head and wondering what in the name of curly kale I am talking about, well, read on, cause it will be worth it!
As August 15th is slowly approaching, green smoothie lovers young and old from all over the world are getting ready to add a good dose of green goodness to their daily menu. We are talking about green smoothies, the green elixir of pure nutrition, which was originally introduced by Victoria Butenko, from the Raw Family. I really cannot say enough good things about this drink, that I truly beleive has saved me from failing on the raw food diet.
I remember very clearly how hungry and deprived I felt the first few weeks I ate a high raw and even 100 % raw diet. ( of course, this was also due to the fact that previously I was eating heavy cooked foods that gave me the feeling of being full, sometimes even too full quite easily) Then came the discovery of the green smoothies, from reading Victoria’s book, Green for Life, and everything changed. I had more energy, felt satiated, and even experienced some amazing improvements in my health.

All I can say is that we (my husband and myself) were hooked on the green smoothie the minute we tried it and it had been our staple food every since. There are numerous variations on how one can mix fruits and greens to make a green smoothie, and this is why they become so popular! If you are turned off by a green coloured drink, you can be rest assured that a green smoothie can be any other colour, if that is what tickles your tastebuds and makes you drink and enjoy them! ![]()

All you need is some ripe fruit (organic is possible), greens (lots of it and a few different varieties so you won’t get bored with the taste of your drink) and any kind of blender and voila, you are ready to make your green smoothies!
